McKenzie Lake is the go-to place for residents when looking for recreation and fun. The lake itself covers 43 acres and also includes an adjacent 20-acre park with a beach house. Residents can picnic, swim, fish, play tennis, and even skate in the wintertime.

The community is home to the McKenzie Meadows Golf Club, an 18 hole course along the Bow River. The club features a driving range and golf academy, and hosts several tournaments and other events.

Within McKenzie Lake, residents have access to an IDA, veterinarian, and liquor store, as well as an Esso Gas station with attached convenience store. More shopping can be found in nearby McKenzie Towne or up at 130th Ave, home to many big box stores.

The McKenzie Lake community borders on the eastern portion of Fish Creek Park. Residents can access the provincial park via a pedestrian bridge located in the northwest section of the neighbourhood.
