When it comes to ample recreational facilities, McKenzie Lake has you covered. During the summer months there is swimming in the community lake, which is man-made and covers 43 acres. Families can also have picnics by the lake or enjoy sitting beside a roaring fire at night. During the winter, the lake makes a great skating rink. McKenzie Lake also connects to Fish Creek Park via a pedestrian bridge on the north side of the community and many paved trails. Within the neighbourhood there are plenty of sports fields, playgrounds, and outdoor hockey rinks and basketball courts.
A bonus of living in McKenzie Lake is the 18 hole championship golf course within the community, McKenzie Meadows Golf Club. This public course is located in the southeast corner of the neighbourhood. McKenzie Meadows winds its way along the Bow River valley, and also features a driving range.
Though McKenzie Lake is a residential community, there is plenty of shopping nearby at McKenzie Towne’s High Street Shops, just east of McKenzie Lake. Within the community itself is a liquor store, an IDA, and a gas station. A popular strip mall is nearby on McKenzie Lake Boulevard.
Several food options are nearby in McKenzie Towne, including a Brewsters, a Chinese Food restaurant, and several other eateries. On nearby 130th Ave there are several more dining options from which to choose.
The McKenzie Lake community association is a very active organization. The community association handles registration for the memberships required for using the lake and for participating in sporting activities such as soccer and karate. The association also organizes stampede breakfasts, movie nights and more.
