THINGS TO DO IN RIVERBEND
With a fantastic location and plenty of nearby amenities, there are plenty of things to do in Riverbend. Several popular outdoor destinations are within walking distance of the community, and many additional attractions and activities are a short drive away.
PARKS & PLAYGROUNDS
Riverbend is rich with parks; the community features both scenic, environmental parks and recreational, athletic parks. Carburn Park features scenic trails along the Bow River and around three beautiful ponds. Riverbend Park and Riverstone Park boast ball diamonds and sports fields. A handful of smaller neighbourhood parks and children’s playgrounds can also be found within the community.
Carburn Park also hosts a medley of recreational activities including fishing, bird watching, picnicking, and wintertime outdoor ice skating. While swimming in the ponds isn’t allowed, the use of canoes, dinghies, and paddle boats is. With plenty to do, Carburn Park has become a popular recreational destination for families of all shapes and sizes.
Riverbend residents have fantastic access to the popular Bow River pathway, which meanders alongside the community, for running, walking and cycling. The pathway is a wonderful opportunity to explore the local community and wander into the surrounding areas of Calgary.
Riverbend boasts a shopping plaza called the Riverbend Centre. This collection of shops and services is focused on daily life, offering the means to run errands with ease. For larger shopping endeavours, Riverbend residents can cross the bridge into the Heritage Drive shopping district, host to numerous big box retail stores. With so many shopping options within five minutes of the community, Riverbend residents can shop to their heart’s content.
The challenging and extremely popular Maple Ridge and Willow Park golf courses can be reached in approximately ten minutes. A straight shoot along Glenmore Trail, Riverbend residents can also reach Heather Glen Golf Club in the same amount of time. Heather Glen features three 9 hole courses alongside 17 lakes, allowing for a diverse and enjoyable game of golf.
