Inglewood is a phenomenal lifestyle community with a rich collection of diverse amenities. The community is close to shopping, parks, and entertainment, so there are plenty of fantastic destinations in and around the Inglewood neighbourhood.
PEARCE ESTATE PARK
This 121-hectare park is a favourite place to visit because of the Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery and the Bow Habitat Visitor Centre. The reconstructed wetland boasts numerous pathways and trails, picnic spots, and a playground. In the winter, Pearce Estate is a great venue for cross-country skiing.
Lions, cougars, and bears? Oh my! Though not in Inglewood, the Calgary Zoo is located just across the Bow River, giving Inglewood residents ease of access to this popular destination. Penguins, giraffes, hippos, and lions are just a few of the many animals at the zoo. Annual memberships are relatively inexpensive, and give families year-round access to this fantastic destination.
9TH AVENUE SE: THE ORIGINAL MAIN STREET
Inglewood is home to Calgary’s original Main Street, located on 9th Avenue SE. This collection of shops, boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants has become a hotspot of activity for the community. The district is jam-packed with local stores, many of which offer specialty services. Whether you’re looking to run errands or simply want a fun place to spend an afternoon, 9th Avenue continues to deliver.
INGLEWOOD BIRD SANCTUARY
The Inglewood Bird Sanctuary is a protected ecosystem that shields the migratory route of many species of birds. This 59-acre park serves as a refuge for migratory birds and some local avian species. It is a popular spot for bird watchers, who often report sightings of dozens of different types of birds. The sanctuary’s duck pond is a bonus that is particularly popular with children.
CALGARY STAMPEDE GROUNDS & SADDLEDOME
Inglewood is within walking distance of the Calgary Stampede Grounds and Saddledome, both of which host numerous events throughout the year. In addition to the famous Stampede, the Saddledome features many major concerts, events, and trade shows that pass through Canada. The Saddledome is the official home of the Calgary Flames, ensuring that the winter is chock full of action-packed hockey games.
