THINGS TO DO IN DEER RIDGE & DEER RUN
RECREATION: SKATING, TENNIS, & SWIMMING
If you’re looking to jump up and get active, look no further than the Deer Run Community Centre. Here, residents will find an outdoor skating rink, public tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and multi-sports fields. Meeting rooms, a gym, and a commercial kitchen are also located at the Deer Run Community Centre. Located next to Deer Run School, this community centre is always abuzz with activity. Nearby, Deer Ridge is host to its swimming pool.
A sizable park can be found along Deer Ridge Dr. SE and Deerview Dr. SE, which hosts additional tennis courts and sports fields. This park also has an awesome playground, which makes it an instant hit with the community’s youngest residents.
In addition to the recreational facilities, a large strip of land along the eastern border of the community has been set aside as preserved park space. Walking trails meander through this park, providing a pleasant place to walk the dog or meet up with friends for a stroll.
Three fantastic courses are within an easy 15 minute drive of the Deer Ridge community: Maple Ridge, Willow Park, and Eaglequest Douglasdale.
As the crow flies, McKenzie Meadows Golf Club is only a moment from the southern edge of Deer Run. However, the Bow River separates this fantastic course from the communities, which makes for a 15 minute driving route to the course. Even still, this excellent course is worth the drive.
