THINGS TO DO IN CRANSTON

One of the best parts of living in Cranston is the abundance of things to do. From local parks and pathways to nearby golf courses and shopping districts, there are plenty of opportunities to be delighted and entertained.

PARKS & PLAYGROUNDS

Cranston is immediately southeast of Fish Creek Provincial Park, one of Canada’s largest urban parks, which has become a popular destination for hiking, camping, and picnicking. During the summer months, Fish Creek hosts the beloved Sikome Aquatic Facility, allowing residents to swim like a fish in Sikome Lake. The Fish Creek Environmental Learning Centre, Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant, and numerous events further enhance Fish Creek Provincial Park.

Within the Cranston community itself, nearly a dozen smaller parks can be found scattered throughout the residential and shopping districts. Each of these charming neighbourhood parks is complete with unique playground equipment, allowing children of all ages to fall in love with a favourite local park.

TRAIL PATHWAYS

Thanks to Cranston’s gorgeous location alongside the Bow River, Cranston home owners have easy access to the popular Bow River pathway. This pathway is a local favourite for both fitness enthusiasts and leisurely wanderers. Walkers, joggers, cyclists, rollerbladers, and skateboarders are all welcome on the 48-kilometre Bow River pathway.

GOLF

Just north of the Cranston community rests McKenzie Meadows Golf Course. The 18-hole championship course links style course meanders by seven lakes, beautiful greens, and white sand bunkers. McKenzie Meadows also features a driving range, pro shop, and banquet facilities.

For those looking for a change of scenery, five additional courses can be found within a ten minute drive of Cranston: Blue Devil, Heritage Pointe, Eaglequest Douglasdale, Maple Ridge, and Willow Park. These diverse courses offer a full range of price, skill, and formality. Simply put, Cranston offers a nearby home course for every golfer.

CLUBS, GROUPS, & PROGRAMS

The Cranston Residents Association organizes community clubs, groups, and programs. Learn something new or master something old with a wide range of activities that make it easy for Cranston residents to meet their neighbours and have some fun. Fitness groups, day camps, movie nights, and artistic workshops are among the regular activities. CRA also hosts annual family events, including an Urban Campout, BBQs, and a Stampede breakfast.

SHOPPING

Two shopping plazas can be found within the Cranston community, allowing residents to shop, visit a local professional, or grab a bite to eat with ease. Directly east of Cranston, the abundance of resources at Seton urban district is available to residents as well.
